Default Troubleshooting my 78' help

I'm not a great mechanic, but I thought I'd try and get some advice here. My grandpa custom built his 78 f150. I inherited it and it has been sitting awhile, I know it's going to need gone through, but the issue I'm having now is it won't start. So he had the carb rebuilt and put back on, then we never drove it after. I can get the truck to start if I slowly give it gas directly in the carb, but it's like it's not pulling any gas from the tank. My first guess is fuel pump or maybe even fuel filter being clogged? Is there anything else that could cause this issue?

I've had crud in my gas tank on older cars. One left me stranded at a light in traffic. UGH! When I was able to get it started and home again, I dropped the tank and thoroughly cleaned it out. (See many youtube videos on this) Also, for a '78 there's probably an in-line fuel filter somewhere between the tank and the pump or carb. Change it - and I suggest you go with one that you can see through. Oh and yes, you can generally get a car or truck going by dribbling a LITTLE gas down the throat of the carb. Nothing more than a shot glass full, I'd suggest. However, if there's a clog in your fuel line, it won't run long and you might damage something by sucking crud into the cylinders.
