Just bought a 76 f100 with a 390BB and some 38s. Dana 44 up front and 9" in the rear. Having trouble getting it into 4wd. Can't get the selector to really do anything except jiggle around in the middle. Sometimes if I am rocking the truck a little with the clutch I can push it forward into 4wheel low, but no matter what I do it seems like I can't get it in 4wheel high. I've pulled pretty damn hard and it still won't budge. Just sort of runs into a stopping point. Any help on how I can get it to go into 4wheel high?

 

the tcase shifter aint hittin the metal pan in the floor is it? i know mine did when i put my body lift on so i had to cut it out some

 

The 4x4 shifter might be broken, that's what happened on my 93. Here's what it looked like, someone tried to fix it with a hose clamp but I can understand why after trying to get my hands on one. $300 at the dealer and none of the 12 salvage yards around me had one.

 

can u take a pic of tranfercase im thinking it may be the linkage but you say u get 4 lo no 4 hi .... they shift in u shape 2hi 4hi 4lo or maybe someone screwed a **** on shifter saying 4hi... it very well could be a older tranfer case and 2 hi and 4 low what transmission do u have
