Hello! I'm am new to the vehicle world and I recently bought an 81 f-150 ranger as a project pickup. Ive done a lot of work on it, but I have an automatic transmission in it and I wish to convert it to a standard transmission. The issue i am having is what transmission will work for my pickup? The engine I have is the 351 5.8L V8, I called my local Ford part store and they said that an SR4 4 speed transmission would work in my truck but they didn't sound too sure. Would this transmission work or is there another one I should look into?

 

With the bad mileage of a 351 id look for a 92-96f150 with a zf 5speed. Hydraulic clutch, lots of gears, they came in both 2 and 4 wheel drives. Find one for what you have. 2or 4 wheel drive. You can fint them behind sb and bb fords. Get the sb one and it should all pretty much bolt in.
