Default Trans Crossmember Installation Issue

Hello everyone!!

Working on installation rest of the drivetrain in my 1980 F150 4x4 Ranger. Have a bit of a problem that i honestly can’t wrap my head around….

From the point of the view of my NP435 transmission, the drivetrain is centre straight to the rear of the truck in the proper direction.

From the point of view from its cross member, it’s off by a couple inches pointing right???

I’m ensure how it can be skewed this bad? Engine mounts have no side to side movement, only up and down.

How do i magically make my cross member come rightwards past my frame?

Just move the transmission over with a big bar or a floor jack handle
Then line up the bolts and finish the install
It's easier if you get your jack moved forward
Cast iron trans you can just jack up the bottom of the trans

Hey man not to hijack ur thread, but how hard is it to drop ur tranny? I have a 79, I imagine they aren't built too differently underneath but I need to take mine out, I think (clutch wont engage so if I put it into gear it just goes). Is the crossmember what holds everything up?

Yes, remove the crossmember first, after putting a jack under the trans

to me it looks like either the mount or crossmember is backwards, mount looks offset to one side. this reply was probably too late though haha.
