I have a 85 f150 300 l6 that I am doing a complete off frame restore, would very much like to get away from the truck manual tranny to a manual one out of a car. I have no clue as to what interchanges with what, or what it would take to make it happen. Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated

My first truck was an 85 with manual tranny back in 1996. Paid $300 for it and it ran like crazy. Traded it in on a new car, and have missed it ever since. The tranny that I had was hydraulic and it was awesome. Why do you want to trade, just curious?

Hi I am new to the sight and I live in Southeastern Arizona in Graham County where we still have 85 percent public land that is accessible. I love the back country here. I have a 1986 Ford Bronco II with a 2.9 v6 and and a4ld auto. I would like to dispense with the a4ld and install a ford truck tranny instead. Is there a ford truck unit that will bolt up to my 2.9? What all will I need to accomplish this. I have a remote transfer case. I have been building VW based off road for many years so I have the experience and all the equipment I need to do the job just not up to date on what will work. If anybody can help me here it would be appreciated. I have good used SM465 but don't know if there is a way to adapt it into my Bronco. Any body ever done that? If you can help me please email me at jyrasco1936@gmail.com. Thank you
