ok... I should know this, but I can't remember
does the 82 F150 auto trans use type F or dex III ??

My '83 uses dex III. I thought they started phasing out the Type F in the f150's in the late 70's.

Look on the Transmission Dipstick for the type of Fluid.

the only thing on the dipstick is the Ford part numberor the fluid

Sorry about that;
I thought Ford stamped the fluid type on all of the automatic transmissions.

My 1987 C6 uses DEXRON II, DEXRON III and/or MERCON fluid.
