So my California (emissions!) 1981 F150 Ranger with a 4.9L carbureted won't pass smog. I've narrowed it down to a timing issue and have attempted using a vacuum gauge to adjust. What I can't figure out is what wires to "jump" to trick the ignition module while I adjust the distributor. Any ideas?
i dont think you have to jump any wires in order to do the timing on that. just put a vac gauge on it and advance/retard the timing until you get at least 18" (after the engine has warmed up, and at idle)
