Steering box
Hey guys, I've got a 84 f150 302. My front end is all new and in working order according to the mechanic. But I still have play in the steering and its causing me to constantly drive from line to line. I think my steering box is bad and I am looking to replace it. I was looking into red head but I dont know what route to take. Any recommendations?
If the whole front end is new (which would include the steering box), how can the box be bad? If you WEREN'T including the box in "all", then you need to be a lot more specific about the truck, how it's built, its history, and the history of this problem. Click this & read the caption:

But you seem to be blindly guessing about the steering box, which is NOT likely to be right, given the large number of things that can cause wander. And I've never been a fan of RedHead - they're overpriced & under-warranted. I've heard of at least as many problems from them as from common parts-store remans (which is what I drove on for a decade, before going back to a used original).
The route you should take is DIAGNOSIS; preferably by a pro who specializes in alignments. Throwing part$ at it will only waste your time, money, effort, & patience.
