I was wodnering if there is a diffrence between a starter off a automatic '86 ford and a starter off of a manual truck ?

It's my understanding that the 'nosepiece' lengths are likely different - I would doubt they were the same - just too much to hope for - unless someone else knows for sure.

I am 100% positive they are different, I work at a service shop and can log on to carquest from any computer to check parts ad the listings are different for auto and manual, probably because auto's have a flex plate with a larger metal sheet (whatever one it is between the engine and trans i dunno what they're called) and manual trans have a flywheel, same basic purpose but flex plates are usually larger in diameter
