I have a 1986 Ford F-150 that I'm having stater trouble with. I took a look underneath and it seems that the previous owner did a number on it. The aluminum plate between the flywheel and the motor has been cut up and the mounting hole in the bellhouse is broken. Any suggestions on a quick fix till I get the parts to fix it?
How about a washer or lock washer (slightly thicker) in between the bell housing and the starter. It's probably thick enough to provide sufficient spacing so that the starter gear can engage until you can get the entire spacer plate replaced. Lots of work ahead for you!
