Default Speedometer question

Hi my names keith, new to here. just got an 86 f150 351 w c6 auto with shift kit. the speedometer bounces up an down and i don't know how to fix it. any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum! Your speedo problem sounds like the plastic gear in the tranny is worn or broken. You can get a new speed sensor from a salvage yard, or buy one new online, if you prefer. The sensor is located on the tailhousing of the tranny, and is held on by a small bolt.

When you take it out, be sure to jack up the rear of the truck, or else fluid is going to spill everywhere when you pull the sensor! Hope this helped.
