Default Should I pull the trigger on this 1980 stepside?

Hi there, new to the form because I'm thinking about picking up this 1980 f150. I'm just looking for a dependable old truck to get to work, and occasionally haul my bike and dog up to the trails. Also, having a old truck I can work on sounds like fun (not much of a mechanic yet). Looks like the motor (302 I think) and trany has been rebuilt a couple years ago. The guy is asking $2750.

So, I'm asking if this would be a good purchase. Anything I should look out for? What about the price?

Thanks guys, hopefully I'll become a contributing member here.

Jbexotics, thanks for the reply. I've seen you around the forums. I defiantly will check for rust; I have been informed that the corners of the cab are exceptionally prone. I think that I'll offer $2000 and see what happens. I check it out tomorrow.

Anything else that an owner of an old f150 should start thinking about?

Well me being a kid (19) Id look for good things such as interior is it tore up good shape in my 85 the interior was crap ripped seat no Headliner cracked and chipped dash so I pulled it all out and painted it from the original red to flat black also find a way to make it your own customize it a Lil make it so if some one sees it they go hey that's that one guys truck
mine is silver and I painted my grill and have 351w emblem on it not to mention the fact mine is loud as he!!
So people kno if I'm coming or goin
I don't have a stereo In mine just cause the wallet is empty but I don't mind hearing my motor Im not even done customizeing mine I'm pulling all the dents painting It putting a sound system in it and converting it over to a solid axel 4x4
Maintenance wise the usual keep up with fluids and any thing that needs to be replaced do it asap I honestly didn't kno anything about mechanicanically about my truck and I self taught most the stuff I kno

And the only motor problem I have had is the preheat tube from the manifolds to the air intake I had it on for one day and couldn't drive more than 30 miles with out it over heating so I pulled it off good luck and if I can think of anything else to look out for ill be sure to mention it

Default 80 stepside

HEY, I HAVE A 86 STEPSIDE, AND ITS IN GOOD SHAPE. 4 SMALL RUST SPOTS IN FLOORBOARD. BED SIDES R IN GREAT SHAPE, BUT I HAVE TO PUT NEW WOOD IN WITH NEW FRONT AND REAR SILLS. U SHOULD TRY TO BUY A GOOD STEPSIDE BED AND SEE WHAT HAVE TO PAY. I PAIED $1,500 FOR MY TRUCK, AND ALL PARTS AROUND MOTOR HAD BEEN REPLACED INCLUDING A/C. I WOULD NOT TRADE MY 86 FOR A BRAND NEW FORD TRUCK. ILL HAVE MY PHOTO ON AS SOON AS IM ABLE TO GET THEM HERE. LOOK ON MY GIRLFRIENDS FACEBOOK PAGE UNDER JUDY DAVIS TO SEE MY PICS.

STAY SAFE
