Default Shifting problems

I'm having problems in my 1983 f150 where it is really hard to put it into gear( it's a np435) especially 2nd starting off. It's also getting harder to shift smoothly through the gears. I was thinking the clutch is going bad bit I would like other people's inputs.

Sounds like clutch to me, makes sure the trans is full of fluid first.

Do you have a mechanical or hydraulic clutch? I have an 86 with hydraulic same tranny. If it was mine doing this there is 2 options. One is my slave cylinder is going bad most likely or my clutch master cylinder plunger is bad. 2 is the fire walls on these trucks are prone to cracking around the clutch master cyl. Have someone work the clutch while watching is the firewall flexes or is cracked.

If you have a mechanical clutch you can adjust the rod to try to gain a little more life.

Yea i checked the fluid and its fine, the clutch is mechanical, but I think it's been adjusted before and there is no more life in the clutch
