I put the truck in reverse and then the shifter came out of the tranny... It's an 86 f250 with a t19 tranny. It's stuck in reverse and I have no idea how to get the cane back in. Any advice?

 

Well I'll answer my own question incase somebody else ever runs into this. The reason my shifter came it was because the cap came unscrewed from the tranny. When I put it in it seemed like it was where neutral would be but it wouldn't shift. I had to use a screwdriver to shift the trany into neutral then I put the shifter back in and it shifted perfect. Also wit tha cap screwed in all the way the stick is much tighter. It's like a whole new truck
