OK IT has been some time since I have done stuff like this. C R S
Will a 1968 302 prem. (came out of a old mustang ) fuel bolt up to 1986 AOD in a f150.
I know there is a balance thing here. Will the bell bolt up? If I get a flex plate for the 68 will it bolt to the AOD converter?
Thanks for the info.

What engine are you replacing? If it is a 5.0(302) it should be a straight swap (Transmission bell housing will bolt up). That said, I do not know about the '68 flywheel and the AOD transmission. Beyond that I fall into the same boat as you C R S

Hope this helps

You can find the balancer and/or flexplate combination you need for the AOD in nearly every Mustang catalog. It's a fairly common combination to put the 4-speed in, for instance, a '68 Mustang but I think prior to 1970 the water outlets are reversed so you'd have to use the F150 water pump if the motor is going into that truck. Plus the timing marks are reversed so you'd have to use the balancer and timing cover from the F150 and that would solve your balance issue to just use the AOD flexplate you already have.
