I used an oxy acetylene torch
Its got to be cherry red

Well, I guess my propane torch will probably not do the job, I guess I will give it another try.

It won't bend the wrench but if you use Mapp gas in your propane torch, it may get the nut hot enough

One more quick question. Do you recall if the coupling to the EGR valve is a right or left-handed thread?

I am still working on this. At 82 years old, I do not move too fast anymore! I just received an open end wrench and need to bend it yet. The cold weather here makes it difficult to work outside.
I did not want you to think I had forgotten this little task of mine.

Last one I had to fight real hard (and the one I bent the wrench for) was a friends 85 Ranger with a 2.3
Took us weeks to get the EGR pipe busted loose
Back and forth with some heat and rust penetrant finally worked
