Default OD trans issue

Ok so I got my stalling and hesitation problem fixed it was the carb, re-man installed problem solved..

Now for another this one "should" be easy..

it is a 1984 F150 it has the the 302 motor and auto OD trans... when it shifts into and out of OD it shifts hard, I drained pan and added some new fluid but topped off with Lucas it's still doing it and has not changed...if I drive it in drive all works fine just no OD..

any suggestions on where to start..

I feel most tranny issue could be avoided if people would just service regularly.. it might be too late for this one it has about 140k on and a flush would be risky..do you think a few more drain and fills would help?.....or is it time to go to a trans shop..

even thought about changing out for non-OD trans.

You may not have the TV cable adjusted properly, with the carb change.
But a firm shifting trans will last longer due to the clutch discs not slipping as much.
I would check for proper adjustment of the TV cable though.
