Default Neutral saftey switch.

Greetings, I have a 1977 2wd with a 400. A month or so ago I notice the back up lights were not working. They were working in June. I did have a towing wiring harness installed since then. I do not know if maybe when I had this installed at a local shop something got wired wrong. They said no it is wired fine.

The neutral safety pin is broke and has been since I bought it. I have to reach my hand under the dash on the steering column and move the neutral safety switch over to start the truck. The backup lights still worked though. So I don't know what the problem could be but am I thinking
1 maybe the switch pin needs to be replaced (since I don't even see it) for the neutral safety switch/backup light switch to work properly?
2 the shop actually messed up on wiring the towing wiring harness by the by the hitch?
Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

UPDATE: I figured out that the neutral safety switch pin actually moves the switch to make the back up light come on. So I felt in the opening on the steering column where safety switch is mounted and I could feel where the pin was broken off but the ready of the rest of it was still securely clipped on the steering column. From what I have read it will just pry off will a small screw driver and can and will drop in the column. So I got a small screw driver and pried that thing off. When it gave way my pinkie finger knuckle was missing a chunk. And of course the switch pin which is a clip did not fly off, even with a good bit of force. Instead it decide to fall down in the column lol, but it is off. So now I am ordering a new one from LMC truck. It is priced at $40, I don't know why. I posted a pic with the neutral safety switch pin( with the pin part actually broken off) and with it prayed off. I did however take the neutral safety switch off so I could pry the pin off more easily.

Update 2: the lever pin came in today. I just put it on. I now have backup lights! The truck now only starts in P or N. It feels good to finally have these two issues resolved at once. I posted a pic if the part and of my back up lights working.
