Need Stepside Bed Information
Hi,
I recently acquired a 1987 F150 Stepside truck.
It appears that the original bed wood was replaced with plywood! and it's now rotting out nicely.... it's also in various widths!
I'd like to replace the wood with something that's going to last, and hope to make it myself.
Currently there are 5 of the metal hold down strips running lengthwise up the bed holding down the wood. Should there be more as they do not appear to be evenly spaced, and there are unused holes in the support brackets under the wood?
Secondly, does anyone have the dimensions of the wood boards that would be needed for the whole bed? I remember LMC had them in their catalog but they do not appear to be there now!
Finally, if I need to take off the bed completely, it appears that there are 8 phillips head bolts holding it to the frame - is that all I would need to remove (and the fuel filler), to lift the bed off the frame?
THanks in advance for any help given.
