Need California emissions diagram for 81 300 I6
I just picked up an 81 f150 with an inline 300 for dirt cheap after some guy couldn't figure out how to put a new clutch in... however he took apart a lot of the vaccum system while trying to replace the intake/exhaust manifold gaskets and i live in the "great" state of california with all the tree huggers and can't seem to find an accurate vaccum diagram that includes the thermactor system and every dealership i have tried says they don't keep schematics past 20 years... can anyone please help me?

I have a complete shop manual set for my '86 (F150-F350 + Bronco) and there is not a specific vacuum diagram anywhere. Only very general 'block' diagrams.... not much help. The only place I have found a diagram is on a sticker in the engine compartment. If yours is missing then hopefully someone here can take a photo of the sticker.

The only thing I can think of is you might find a shop, repair manual, from Ford on Ebay or a online bookstore, I have found a few things in the past going that route, but be prepared it can get expensive if you get one. $ 50.00 or more.

Thank you all for the help i truly appreciate it... Yeah i have the sticker underhood but it doesn't include any of the vacuum valves at the rear of the engine but all of that hasn't been tampered with i really just need to know what ports to plug if any should actually be left open and also where everything goes on the carb and vacuum tree... a picture of a 81 300ci from california would probably do me justice but all the pics i have found online do not include the california emissions equipment... Thank you again

Also to the smog exemption thing... california no longer has the 30 year smog exempt rule... now it's simply anything pre 1975... i think it's dumb but hey i can't change it all by myself lol

I really feel sorry for you. I had a 1971 300 CID and it was a terrific engine. I worked at Ford Dealerships during your build time, and the crap that Ford did to that great engine, in my opinion was criminal. Regardless, don't let the California BS stop you, open up your search to later years. 82-83 should have all the 81 Ca. stuff. In my opinion, no one knew what was happening in that era. Good luck!

Okay that does make sense to me that 82 and 83 would be the same i have the chilton manual but it's pretty much worthless... do you know if removing the thermactor system will make my truck run bad or would it make my truck then not smog legal?
