My first huge project
So, last weekend I finally got to tear into my '84. I replaced all the brake lines (hard and soft), rear brakes except for drums, front brakes including rotors, new wheel bearings and seals, new lock outs, and a new master cylinder. I learned a lot doing this project. I'm planning on doing a write up on the wheel bearings since there doesnt seem to be much info out there about em. I've got a lot of pictures. I finally finished but..... as with all best laid plans, it went to sh**. Ugh. I'm stumped. I bled the lines and yes I did bench bleed the master, with the truck off first and the brakes had good pressure. Started it up, the pedal went to the floor and I had no brakes. So I bled it with it running. Still the same deal. So I'm at the point where I violate my one rule I have with that truck, I'm tempted to take it to the shop (insert cringes and scowls). I bought this truck to teach myself how to do my own car repairs. Ill get around to that write up as soon as I can. Thanks everyone. Night
I'll take a look at that after school. My next project is a new block heater and battery warmer. Winters coming soon and MN winters can get nasty. Someone mentioned to look at having it pressure bled??? I was going to call today
well yes and no somtimes pressure bleeding can cause harm to the master i would have it vacuum bleed with a pump bleeder from sears its $40.00 and it works great for me and doubles as a vacuum checker for egr valves and such like that
