Default Ignition questions

Wanted to say hey to everybody and thanks for having me.

So here we go. 86 F150 5.0 efi. All the videos ive watched on timing mentions something about a chip that has to he removed before you initially try to time the truck. Upon preliminary inspection that chip seems to be non existant on my wiring harness. Could it be located somewhere else besides close to the distributor??

Thanks.

According to the first site I read, there are 3 different setups for disabling the automatic spark advance for setting the timing with a light.

There's a spout connector near the distributor, or it could be near the driver side fender, or it could be that it's a vacuum advance distributor, in which case you just remove and plug the vacuum line.

Look for a thick wiring harness located between the distributor and fan belt.
There is a black connector with yellow wires coming out of the bundle. You pull the plug out of the connector to disable advance.

Thanks guys I'm pretty sure I located the plug! And of course it doesn't look like any of the ones shown in videos. Initially when I throw the light to it, it reads at 10° btdc. After connecting the plug it falls to 16-18° btdc. With a little throttle she goes back to 10. Is that about the norm? And I don't know bout you guys? But my truck is a cold hearted s.o.b in the mornings. Almost like its gotta carb sitting on top!
Btw. Any helpful hints on efi-carb swap? Parts ill need. And things to look for?
