how to tow a 1982 f-150 4x4.
Hello : I am moving from Colorado to Ohio and I want to tow it but I don't want to ruin a automatic transmission in the process. I am considering a flat bed but am not sure if I can also use a two wheel dolly?. Any experience would be help full . Thank you folks !.

You will find out a tow dolly is weight restricted.. not sure if you could get away with a F-150 on one.. trailer would be best.

The NP208F has no fluid pump; it's splash-lubed. As long as the t-case is full (or slightly overfull) of Dexron ATF, the truck can be flat-towed or dollied indefinitely with the t-case in N (though the owner guide specifies <40mph). Look at this & the NEXT few:

IDK the exact chemistry, but it's like Coke & Pepsi. I assume true Mercon would work, but Ford specified Mercon II in the '84 owner's manual (which should have the same t-case fluid as all NP208Fs). So any modern Dexron (including Dex/Mercs) should be fine.
The fluids for a '92 are NOT the same.
