Default Helppppp.....

I have a 1985 f 150 that I bought right straight out of a junk yard 12 years ago ..... 302. fi that i rebuilt to HO specs and changed to a holley 4 bbl carb... also rebuilt the c6 trans. but I have never ever been able to get any gas mileage out of it.... it has a 308 locker in the diff...
I would like to change the c 6 out to a AOD trans.... can you guys educate me about that ??????

Well the AOD is a direct bolt on, but the length and tail shaft might be longer...
Although you switched to a carb, the heads were probably designed for FI, might be one of your problems.
I bolted a 4R70W to my Cleveland. bad thing you need a computer.. the AOD does not need one.
The input shaft on the AOD can be a little weak if your thinking of "speed" they do make a solid one, but then
you loose some of the advantages of the AOD
Not much else I can say...
Best

might be just the way ports are, or valves sizes... I know I've read about the differences
you might do a "search"
