Why not go one better than a simple worm clamp (which I never seen a tranny line done with a worm clamp from the factory) by using a fuel injection clamp? Just because you claim Ford used worm clamps decades ago when fuel injection clamps were not very common doesn't mean he can't better the original. You want to live in the dark ages and do a sloppy job, go for it Steve.

I don't even know what you're calling a "fuel injection clamp". None of the EFI fuel lines I've seen have clamps - they're either simple push-on barbs, or swaged. But even if it IS a substantial improvement (which I doubt, for something as low-pressure as an ATF cooler circuit) or of comparable cost (which I doubt), that still wouldn't make the FACTORY arrangement "sloppy".

Here's where the factory worm-clamped the ATF line (though this hose has been replaced badly):

Here's the kit recommended in TSB 00-23-10:

Fuel injection clamp.Much better than the rubber biting worm clamp which always loosen up. About the same price as a cheapie worm clamp. From your pic, there's no way the factory is going to use a worm clamp like that, cranked up so tight just to seal, that half of it is hanging out. That type of repair was done by a shmuck backyard mechanic.

Yes, the factory commonly cranked worm clamps down so that rubber squirted out the slots, and a lot of band was hanging out past the screw. No, I've never found one to have loosened up on its own. But as I said - the hose in that photo had been replaced.

I'm not a fan of that nut-&-bolt style hose clamp. I'll keep using US-made SS worms.

Yes, you're drinking the nut-&-bolt-clamp KoolAid. I'm sticking with what Ford uses.
