It is probably similar to my '86. Take out the glove box and behind it is the housing for the heater core. Mine had 7 screws to take out and it dropped out of the way. The core is just held in by the hoses under the hood. I Got mine out and discovered that the replacement core from AutoZone, NAPA and Baxter do not fit! Had to get one from rockauto.com Partsgeek.com has them as well. Be careful of the gasket behind the core. Mine ripped and I will ned to make a new one. Search it on Fordf150.net and they have a few pictures as well.
