Default heater core replace

The heater core is leaking on our 85 f150. truck has
A/C and straight 6-cyl. chilton's says to remove glove box liner, remove 8-screws from heater cover, disconnect lines to cooling system and pull core.

problem is i don't see 8-screws or any for that matter on the heater cover, behind the glove box liner.

looks more like you remove the core from the other side of firewall. does any body know the best way to change out the heater core on this truck. thanks for any help in advance. cape bronco.

I just did this on my '83 ( may be similar...I think the heater cores were in the engine comparment until 86?). Remove the glove box liner and 3-4 bolts from the cab. On the engine side remove a few bolts to remove the fan housing and the core was in there.

thanks for the info scubasimmons. it looks like to us it does have to be removed from the engine side. before we tear into it i wanted to see if anyone has experience in this. searching the posts i could not find other info about removing this one. they all say remove the 8-bolts behind the golve box and pull it out from the cab side. we don't see no 8-bolts from the cab side. we'll look at it some more. thanks. capebronco.
