Default Headers for '79 F-150

Hey there,

I'm looking for a header application for my '79 F150 4x4 400m C-6 column shift - was looking at headman elite series but all the applications I'm seeing at Summit say that they will not fit trucks with dual shocks. Seems odd as the header is on the inside of the frame, and the dual shocks are on the outside, but they say they won't fit. Anyone have any info on HD headers that will fit? Thanks.

Not to nit-pick but, You have a 400. Ford designated the engine family as: 351M/400.
Are you looking at long tube headers or short ? Long tube headers do not play well with 4WD. Can I ask why headers ? Is there an issue with the stock manifolds ?

It's all good - thanks for the correction - it's the 400.
Headers, because there's already a set that needs replacing, and I don't have stock manifolds. Was purchased with headers - they are shot.

Two different style headers were made for the 6th Gen trucks. Take a look at the links posted. Seems a lot of folks have had this dilemma.

If mine, I would revert back to stock exhaust manifolds. They are far less hassle for clearance and heat issues and last 10 times longer than any thin wall headers for daily driver use. Try Rock Auto. I would also use stainless steel bolts for future serviceability reasons.
