First Time truck owner
Hello all,
I'm 40 and finally own my first truck. I recently bought a 82 Ford F150 extended cab. It's a $500 beater, but I think I can make it into something good. I've decided I want to try and learn how to fix a vehicle up as a side project but I could use some help. I'm putting a pic up of the truck so you can see it. As you can see it is pretty rusty, especially the box. I'm thinking of buying a short box for it and was asking around. I was told that I can fit any short box from 1980-1996 Ford F150's on my truck. Can anyone tell me if this is true? If so, is the connection to the frame the same no matter which year 80-96 I get? Any help or knowledge about being a truck owner and maintaining and rebuilding the truck, would be appreciated. By the way, I really think Ford builds the best trucks, always have thought that. Glad now that I finally bought a truck, it's a Ford. So here is a pic of my truck......http://www.ringo.com/photos/photo.ht...toId=232821570.
Darn, I need someplace to put my pics for you to see. It doesn't show up from Ringo here. Anyone got a suggestion? Thanks all.

Hi 'fellow Canadian' welcome.
If the truck is already a shortbox you can swap a newer one (80-96) but if it's a longbox the frame will be too long. Practically all body panels fit on the various years.

Thanks for the info Feese, it is already a short box, so now I know I can change it. Thanks for getting the picture up Whitecrystal1. Think I need to worry about getting it mechanically in shape before the body work.

Howdy & Welcome to the site and the Forums, a lot of potential there for sure. You are correct you absolutley want to get it in the best mechanical shape possible. Safety first.
