All the 80s trucks are 2 or 3 bolts under the hood and one that you have to open the door for. Its in the lower half and is usally coverd in road dirt and the fender comes right off

Yep. And when you put the new ones on just snug the bolts down until you get everything lined up

Is this on an 86'? I just got one. Runs great but looks like.... I was gonna replace the hood, the fenders and the doors with the primered variety and just drive it.

The fenders looked easy. Have you done this yet?

Thanks

No I haven't but I was gonna ask about the whole running with primered parts option- I have brand new parts came primered and I wasn't gonna get them painted til spring so should I wait to put them on (Virginia weather no salt) or can I put em on if I get time on a Sunday and be ok for a few months.. Yes it's an 86 thanks guys!

I have installed the drivers side fender, tailgate and hood since this thread started. I have not painted them nor am I. I think that you will be fine.

Before you start, go to Advanced Auto Or Auto Zone, what ever, and buy some replacement M6 and M8 clip nuts. That way when they break you will have replacements on hand to finish job.
