Default FE Power question

I have a stock reman FE360 with 2bbl and original intake original exhaust manifold, with duals. I am planning to upgrade to Holley 600CFM with Performer intake, Comp 268H cam kit, Headers and dual exhaust. What power gains should I see from this change. I was thinking 40 to 60 HP but just want to know if that is about right?

I did a similar build with an FE 390. Given the experience with mine, i think you are right on the money. A suggestion if the buget for the build can accommodate it. Upgrade the distributer to a solid state one. I went with a Unilite distributor and hi energy coil. Awsome piece of gear. Fires the engine first time every time and keeps the fire lit. The upgrades you are planning will really liven up the motor.

Default Thanks for the help

I really appreciate the info. I am planning on upgrading the distributor and I will check out the Unilite distributor. I did upgrade the current points to the Pertronix.

I have a 390 with the Edelbrock Street Master 390 manifold and love it. I would suggest either and x-pipe or h-pipe to help balance out the exhaust. I have headers and didn't have either for a while, then added the h-pipe and it is well worth it!

One thing Im always concerned about in an FE build for a truck is to make sure I dont "over cam" it. Alot of people make that mkstake and gonwith a wild cam that would have been used in the Mustangs and Gran Torinos of that era. The gain some top end but loose driveability and the bottom end torque you need off of the line or towing ability you need in a truck. It can cause other problems if you go real wild like lack of vacum at low RPM to operate power brakes. I usually use what they call a mild "RV" cam in a truck. It gives good grunt off the line and mid range. I dont usually operate in the upper RPM range anyway. Itsnall about how you plan to use the truck. Choosing the right cam is key. Its part art and part science.
