Default Engine Options

I currently have an '83 302 and I'm thinking a "new" engine might be in my immediate future. Admittedly, I don't know a whole lot about my options for replacement. I know you can "upgrade" to fuel injected. What are common things to do? I plan on dying with this truck so I want something that will last and not absolutely chug through gas if possible. Budget friendly would be nice as well. Appreciate the tips/suggestions.

I always suggest staying with your original configuration when replacing your engine. No matter what you do, it will never be a fuel mizer like a newer model.

I agree, leave it stock and replace the engine
You can buy a fuel injected 87 or 88 for the cost of fuel injecting yours
In other words, fuel injecting yours would cost a ton and have very little benefit other than better drivability and possibly better mileage
I would say, if you want a fuel injected truck, buy one
Run what cha brung with your present truck and enjoy it
Learn the ins and outs of those 2 bbls. Damn simple really
Your 2 bbl. needs a working choke and a good power valve mostly
