Default doing a swap, need electrical help.

I am at the end of a 351w into 1977 f150 swap. I have almost everything ready to go, the only issue i am running into at the moment involves the electrical system. While doing some work to the truck after installing the engine, i had the radio going. Had the battery hooked up like normal, positive going to solenoid, negative going to block. Suddenly the radio quit playing and i lost power but i didnt think anything of it, and i hooked up my starter and plug wires etc ready to try and fire her up. Sure enough i got nothing! i crossed the solenoid and got it to turn, then realized i wasnt getting it to start because my shifter is unhooked and i wasnt in park so i put it there. Then i turned the key, got a quick clunk and that was the end of it, not even able to cross the solenoid and get it to turn! I checked the battery, it is doing just fine. I also noticed that one of my fusible links going to the starter solenoid burned out and it appeared to be going to the alternator on the other end?

Sorry about the long post but, I am guessing i need to ground it better? that seems to me like it would be the issue but if anyone else has better info i would love to hear it!
