clutch problems
just replaced my clutch on an 86 f150 with i6 and np435, the throw out bearing is making noise only a month later and the pedal doesnt always come completely back out after being depressed. the mechanic suggests using a spring to hold the pedal down enough to make the bearing noise stop, does this sound right? and what are the long term consequences? thanks for any help!
hydraulic, but i dont have any experience with clutches. i've looked around for some info without finding anything that hits my particular symptoms quite right. Before i replaced it; the pedal wouldnt always pop all the way back out, i would have to use my foot to nudge it the rest of the way (similar to what it is now, only worse) and it was making noise in reverse and started making some severe harmonic tones in 4th when driving down the high way.
Sounds like a botched clutch job. What did fhey replace when they done the clutch? Because it sounds like they did not replace the slave cylinder. And probably turned the flywheel and did not shim it when I put it back on..
interesting because today i noticed that when i slowly let the clutch out i can hear it engaging like it's warped, brushing together in an uneven fashion and i get a whole lot more vibration when initially releasing the pedal. honestly i'm not sure what all was replaced, but you can bet i will be more detailed when i take it back in!
thanks for the info!
