Carb Problem?
Hey guys, I have been slowly restoring my 85 truck that sat in pieces for 10 years before I got it last year. In the process I replaced the intake manifold and carb a few months ago. I put a 600cfm Holley on the 351W and a fuel regulator with an extra fuel filter because I know Holley's can be temperamental with pressure and dirt so I didn't cut corners from the start.
The engine fires up fine and runs smooth, but what I am having issues with is that there is a drop in power shortly out of the hole. When I start to accelerate from a stand still after the engine rises a few hundred rpms and the wheels start rolling, the rpms drop low for a second and then take off back where they were which causes a surge in the acceleration. I was thinking that it was an issue with the carb changing from the idle circuit to the acceleration circuit. Before I bother resetting my carb settings, am I thinking about this right? What would you guys be looking at to figure this out?
