Unhappy Cannot find the MAP sensor?

According to the manual there should be one... Autozone's Location
table shows it: "Under hood, passenger side, front side of shock tower, mounted on the battery tray"

There is nothing mounted there, no spare connector, holes for mounting nor a vacuum hose... this is a CA Emission 302 V8..

Can anyone confirm that there is supposed to be one? Am still chasing the rough idle and dying at idle in gear problem...

EFI or CARB?
Isn't the MAP sensor an EFI item?
I thought the EFI 302's did not start until '85.
On the EFI there is a vacuum tank and a bank of 4 or 5 solenoids just behind the battery tray.

Default 2150A Carb with CA feedback solenoid on rear of carb

Guess I should buy a real 1984 Ford F150 service manual... Haynes are just "lightweight" information...

Even my fender decal for emissions shows the MAP senor and the Red line routing to Man Vac? But, the location is not "clearly" shown only that it is near
the front of the truck...

Really want to get this truck running correctly again without the idle changes and dying in gear... .. all the rest of the stuff has been fixed. Only has 123K miles, great compression and no rust on the body.
