Default Auto to manual

How's it going everyone? I have a 85 with 351 and an automatic transmission. Has anyone done a automatic to 5 speed manual swap and if so how hard is it? Thanks for the help.

I've never done it nor do i know anyone who has but I'd imagine it shouldn't be too difficult. I wanna say i saw a video of this conversion on YouTube though. But it's a pretty straightforward job. Hardest part will probably be finding all the parts or cutting the floor depending on how attached you are to your pick em up truck

It's not uncommon, but we get a few new people a month around here asking the exact same question never to be heard from again. Try using the search feature here and in google and you'll get thousands of results.

Why do you want to switch?

Mainly because I have always thought manuals we more fun. Its what I learned on and have never really liked automatics.

I just put in a Tremec 5 speed 3550 ,actually its theTR4250 i bought in 93 the gear banger special with short shift , very easy, fits in place of AOD drive shaft fits in changes speedo end cog then it fits , cross member fitted no mods , it could do with a little more clearance beside 5th gear on housing ,add a washer , mine is the 3.27 1st and .68 5th my 302 is actually a 87 roller block pistons flush at deck and heads i put on recently are D ported 66 hi-po copies, small chamber compression is tad high for truck , runs great , will be better with my new 385 ci stroker engine . used a falcon slave cylinder which bolted to my bell, i think a 68-69 mustang lever and a russell fitting for master and a stainless line i made up , i had a spare center force clutch , changed out the pedal assembly easy job. made a gear stick got close to center console so i made a new one .Cheers .
