86 f150 302 Gear ratio advice
Hey all ive finally got my f150 running where it should be. I plan on using this truck as my tow rig for my car. I know this isnt the best but i picked the truck up really cheap so im going to roll with it. I have a 4 inch lift and 33s (2wd FTL) and even though its 2wd shes still a good truck. I want to switch up the gear ratio but im not sure of a couple things. One, what gear ratio would be good. The car its towing is my talon tsi awd (about 3300 lbs) I wont be towing the car all the time but i want to get a good gear and locker to tow. Ive been looking at 410s but i wondering if 4.56s would be better. I dont really want to be cruising at a high rpm on the highway so im leaning toward 4.10s but im not sure.
What gears/locker do you guys suggest, mind you this is a generally budget minded build?
And where should I get the gears/locker? Do you guys have any website suggestions?
Heres the car she will be towing
and heres when the car was on the uhaul trailer with my buddies 04 150

I'd stick with 4.10s. That's what's in my 85 f150 with a 300. As far as your differential goes I would get a limited slip. It's cheaper than a locker and better in my opinion. I bought mine at napa for I think 300. Maybe a little more or less. And it was a yukon brand.

Plays with Mopar's to!
Broncograveyard Is a good place to get gears and such, They not only do Bronco's but F-Series as well, is the F150 in question auto or manual? I think 4:10's would be alright, is this also going in a 8.8 axle or 9"? I prefer the 9" over the 8.8 but thats MO so take it for what it's worth.
You can always search for a gear/rpm calculator online that would help in the end.
