Default 77' Clutch question

Hi all I am looking at buying a 77' f150 with a 300 and a 4 speed but the clutch has me a little concerned. When it is parked and you push the clutch in it makes a sound kind of like when you run sandpaper over metal but it's not all the time it's more rythmic. I don'r know if it a bad clutch or just out of adjustment. Other than that noise the it works just fine so I don't know how big of a problem it is. Any help would be much appreciated.

I personally don't think it's the clutch, maybe the linkage getting rusty? Because the clutch works fine, I would check all the linkage for rust or binding.

check the brake master cylinder linkage or it can possibly be the spring is rusted.

is the sound coming from inside the truck or at the trans if its at the trans im almost certain that year model would be a full mechanichal clutch however if it isnt and its at the trans then you should check your slave cylnder for rust and if there is rust then remove the boots and do some cleaning and lubing however if its pure mechanical like i suspect simply check for rust and misalignement if theres rust a lil wd-40 will help u however you need to insure NOT to get it on the clutch disk itself it can render your clutch disk useless and i know you arent wanting to buy a new one.
On the other side ofr the coin if the sound is coming from the inside of the truck then you should take a good long look at your clutch peddle assembley because there is a small rod in the assemble that is incredibley a pain in the **** make sure the rod isnt broken and if it is then thats you sound and it may work for a while however it will eventually just fall in your floorboard so best to replace it. i had a similar plroblem on a 1978 f250 4x4 and the rod was a broken however being young and well poor i just let it ride and wound up going straight up the end of a hill on the other side of our mud track because i could think fast enough to just turn the damned truck off lol

On a 70s model its all linkage no hydrilics it sounds like the throw out bering is making noise but I'm not gonna swear to it but if u want to find out if that's what it is go under n look where ur clutch fork goes in the bell housing pull bk the rubber around it n spray a little wd40 on the throw out bering n see if it stops try not to sray to much in there it should only take a lil bit
