Default 61 f100

I have a 61 f100 that was my Grandpas it has set in the woods for 20 years. I am working on rebuilding it I am trying to decide if it would be worth it to rebuild the 312 in it, or replace it with a new engine dose any one have any recommendations.

Isn't the 292/312 the first of the push rod or overhead valve engines. Would be kinda neat and I would think more valuable to restore it to original. Don't have any tips or hints, its even before my time.

Eh, not aware of anything special about the engine, so unless you intend to 'car-show' it as original - suggest to consider something newer, where parts are still readily available.

Offhand, perhaps a 302 or 351 with a carbureted intake manifold that has been converted to one of the aftermarket throttle body injection units?

On the other hand - wasn't '61 the year, or one of the years, where the cab and the bed were together, instead of separate? If so, this would be rather unique, and perhaps worthwhile to keep things as original as possible.

yea the cab and the bed are one peace that's why I was thinking about keeping the 312 that's in it but just looking for advice since its been setting in the woods for 20 years its not gonna be just a car show truck so but it would make a nice peace in one I don't think I have ever seen one like it on the road or in a show how would I go about getting parts to rebuild this it though engine or body cause I am betting for the body at least I am gonna have to make them my self

Keep the 312 it was a rare engine for that period.....the only other vehicle that featured that engine was the mid fifties T-Bird.
Nice project please post some pictures.

I would keep the 312. These trucks are starting to become very sought after. You never see one with the original motor.

It would be nice to redo the 312 but It probably wont be easy. If you put a big block in it no one will care what was originally in it.
