460 timing chain
Hello this is my first post here. I have owned alot of ford trucks and love the older ones. I recently picked up a 1974 F100 with a 460 auto and 92,050 original miles for my 16 year old sons first ride. We have been doing a few thing to it and will add headers, intake and carb eventually.
Anyhow I have been reading about the timing chain after 71 being retarded from factory and installing one for a 68-71 helps add power to the 460. Is this true and is any tricks to it or just buy the new timing chain set for the older model 460 and install it like normal with the #1 piston at tdc on compression stroke and line up the dots on the new gears?
