Default 400 manual trans?

Have a 400 with a C6 transmission but want to swap in a manual. What transmission should I use a T18, T19, or something else? Also what else do I really need for the swap? Truck is a 1978 4x4. Thanks

Any 4 speed and transfer case will do. Just make sure you have the correct bell housing and flywheel and flex plate. Also you will have to check the bolt depth where the flywheel bolts to the crank because they can hit and cause damage or the motor not to turn over and you have to split it to fix it. And you want a good clutch too. Center force dual friction twin disc kit is about the best ive came across thd run about 500 dollars but theyre worth it. Youll also need the cluth leakage the ball side that bolts to tbe frame side and the tubular rod the connects to the other brace thats bolts to the bell houseing. And the adjustment rod for the shift fork. And youll want to change the piolt bearing out as well. And that can be a pain In the ***. The easiest way I ever did it is to pack the back side full of grease to the point that you can't fit any more in and turn a socket around on a extention and use it like a punch. Just make sure its a tight fit and you may have to use a little heat Then youll need the floor pan cover. They just bolt in. Thats all I can think of at the time. It sounds like alot but its not to bad. Long week and a case of beer and you'll have a 4 speed. And the. You ca. Tear the steering colom apart and take out the auto transmission park lock. But im not real sure on that I just got a new colom when I built my truck
