351m Upgrade for a 1977 F150 4x4
Just scored some parts with an irrigation job trade out.. Got a set of Headman Headers(still in the box), Holley 4barrel (still trying to identify, I think a 600), Mallory Unilite ignition, Edelbrock Preformer 400 intake and set of 4 15x12 shiny Alcoas... I've been laughing all week, the labor and material for the irrigation cost me $250, his wife wanted space in the garage...what????? Anyways I win... Is this a good set up? All I read is yes it is. I really like the cam that is in the truck, it is a little more highway friendly than my old 75 f250 was with 360, I don't really want to do new cam and timing chain. What is best gasket set for intake job, edelbrock to match the intake name or what? What to do with all the vacuum hoses plugged up with golf tees and coffee can.. Do I really need to Jack the truck up 3 feet to install the headers like the directions say? I remember on my 75 it was a pain in the ***, lift the motor a little, remove starter, but we didn't need to Jack it 3 feet..how much horsepower do I gain with intake, header, carb ignition upgrade? Much variance on who you ask.. One thing I do know, I got the baddest landscape truck on Oahu...Aloha Ford World

whats up, ive got a 79' f-150/351M, same intake, same headers, but accel ignition, eddlebrock 600 4Bbl carb W/1'' wood laminant spacer, a 6'' lift, but i live in Hana, Maui, LOVE the truck. Just removed the headers to wrap them, just sliped them right out, only thing, had to remove the oil dip stick tube from the block, and the starter ,i dont know if the 6'' lift helped, but try driving up some small ramps, to get your self some working room. On the gaskets,FEL-PRO is who i usaly use. Much luck, and A'hui Ho
