my '86 302, when warmed up good, cuts out really bad only when you get on the throttle and ocassionally back fires any ideas? just put hooker comp headers and true duals all the way back.. i was told it could be plug wires (which i am gonna replace because the boots barely touch the pipes) but the plugs, cap, rotor are all new

 

Yes, it well could be wires by what you describe, get some good wires, not cheapos, they will last.
