Default 300-6 to a V-8

I just got the truck home and it runs but of course no power, how do i find out what V-8 would go in without changing the tranny? It's my 86 f-150 4X4

Any 302 or 351 will fit. If i'm right you got either a c-4 or a c-6 tranny and you won't have a problem swapping a v8 into it at all.

Default swap

298-302-351w-351c all use the same tranny

for a 6-8 swap you will need to cahnge the motor stands cause they are different from the 6 to the 8. Other than that your good to go, cept the rad will need different hoses cause the rad is different from the 6 to the 8 also.

I thought a c-4 was a small block tranny and a c-6 was for a big block, anywho.... how do I identify what tranny I have? I havent owned very many Fords.
