That I have understand but it needs everything, hood fenders floors can corners entire bed etc... Once I started to take it apart it got worse and worse. I might have to call it quits for this project 😕

I've been hard at work removing and repairing all the rust, but I'm starting to get my suspension lost going. I want to level the front but some
Say 1.5" to level and others say 2". Which one is it please?

Just a suggestion, but as far as you're going with the truck, a cab swap isn't that much work once you get some of the basics like the hood and fenders off. Around here (Ontario salt belt - lots of rusty trucks) a really clean cab will sell for $500.
If you're willing to do the swap, that can be cheaper than all the patch panels and welding supplies and bodywork material. And the cab isn't patched.
Just a consideration.

I thought of the that as well, I just never checked with NY law if a cab swap is allowed. As of right now the cab needs the left floor and rocker and both cab corners.
I still need a box, fenders, doors and a hood 🙃

Following. And most states will allow a cab swap, but the title goes with the cab. They might classify it as a clone, but it'll still be the same truck.

As far as the cab I think I will attempt the repairs first because the rest of the cab is pretty solid. The body parts will be the last part of this project so I have been actively searching my local Craigslist to find a rust free donor. But being from Long Island NY I've come to realize that it is very difficult.
As of now I'm tackling sections at a time then moving on to the next. I have the bed disconnected and in the process of sanding the rusty frame and then painting it. Once it's painted a new suspension and fuel system.
Since the wife will be driving it as well she didn't want a huge lift, but I never measured the height difference to see what it will take to level it.
I need to download the pictures off the camera so I can update you all on the progress I will try to take some with my phone later as well

I finally got the nasty fuel tank removed but now I have an issue. I went to order a new tank and sending unit but I cannot find one for a 1986 4.9?? Is there another year tank and sending unit I can use?

Have you looked at Rock Auto? You can look in a parts manual to find the part number, then see what else will fit
