Default 1985 speaker update question

Recently purchased this truck, and it still has the factory am radio and the one dashboard speaker. I want to upgrade, so I took off one of the door panels, and there is a hole for a 5.25 speaker. But there is not any holes to run the wire. Has anyone done this, and if so what its the best way to do it?

When I got my truck it only had the original door speakers and the wires were running from behind the door panel

Look in the door jamb halfway between the hinges. There should be a hole plugged with a rubber grommet. Probably 2" diameter. Just poke holes in the rubber grommet and thread the wires through. I used the holes to route wires for an aftermarket electric window and doorlock kit. Make sure you form a 'drip loop' in the wires and seal with silicone or something.

If you don't have the hole in the door end then just drill a hole You can get rubber grommets at autoparts stores. Drill the hole to match the grommet size.
