I don't think there are many 85' EFIs without this story of sorts.

Did you replace the Capacitor with your new Coil ?
Not an EFI...this thing has a carb!
New capacitor too!
Now the coil wires flamed up again!

Brought in my brother and one of his buddies who have had Ford trucks since high school and are a wealth of knowledge and we are all scratching our heads. We pondered everything from dropping a straight point distributor in to a duraspark unit to a HEI coil in cap unit.

Had suggestions that the voltage regulator is bad and causing an overvoltage that is frying stuff, but alt checked out.

Traced wires, tested components and all the parts, distributor pip signal, ignition module, coil, capacitor, wiring gets all the right values until all put together. Then is fails to cause any spark at the coil. distributor wire fails to fire the coil and I have used 3 different ignition modules.

Just got a call from my buddy and it is actually his truck so he made the call to haul it to a local shop. 2 weeks and I am just happy for it to be someone elses problem.

Oh ****e, the EFI was an optional engine in 85'. I have not come across many/any Carb 302s for 85'. Sorry for the assumption....

If you get a chance, let us know what the fix was... thanks.
