1979 F150 break light problem
I have a left rear break light that does not work when the lights are turned on. Park lights work, left turn signal works, and break light works. On the bulbs there are two filaments one bright (short one) and one just one (long one). The break and turn signal are not as bright on the left side. Figured it may be a poor ground so I cleaned all connections plus I pulled a new ground from the battery box to the ground screw. Everything works independantly but when you turn the lights on and hit the breaks with the left signal on, everything just goes out. I checked every connection and tried to read an ohm meter to see if I have less power leading to a potentially broken wire or weak connect...it flucuated so bad I could get a good constant number so I went back and checked fuses...flashers etc. The only thing I could not figure out, the flashers did not work, they used to but had not tried them for a very long time. What do I do? I could not find a direct short and am lost for what to do. I just use this truck seasonally not drove every day...maybe I should?

Go the the side that doesn't lite as bright. It will have a bad ground there. It is back feeding into the other circuits to find ground. Should be a black wire that is the ground, check connector and also where it bolts to chasis. Its got to be there somewhere.
