1979 302 stalling issue.
I just bought a 79 F-100 Ranger with the 302 and it stalls out when it's cold. It has the electric choke, and that seems to be working. The issue I'm having is once the choke kicks down the RPM's and I put it in reverse or drive, it has a tendency to stall. It restarts easily and can be driven, but once I get to a stop sign it will sometimes stall again. Once it's REALLY warm, then it's fine. Also, sometimes it will bog down when I give it gas while driving. Usually in the 50-60mph range. If anyone can help me narrow down the problems I would really appreciate it. I haven't had a carburetor on a car in a LONG time. Thanks!
I would have to ask, had it been sitting for any length of time, since you just bought it. I don't know about changing carb adjustments yet but if you do and does not fix put them back where they were. Before fuel injection it was always "wont run right, carburetor". I would start with filters first, fuel and air and fuel it self if it had been sitting.
